PLN stands for professional learning network, and is who educators can go to to grow as a teacher. All educators should have a PLN, as it is a good way to meet fellow educators and discover new ideas for your classroom. In class, we used Twitter and Pinterest to develop our PLN. We were encouraged to follow experienced educators, and posts our own ideas. By following educators on Twitter, my feed was constantly filled with new ideas, inspiration, and opportunities for further growth. When participating in Twitter chats, I was able to meet even more inspiration educational leaders and share ideas. On Pinterest, I found hundreds of ideas that I can use in my future classroom. I found many resources for classroom set-up, procedures, and teaching content. I feel that I learned so much about teaching through my PLN, and I plan to continue to develop this.
Danielson Domain & PLN
Having a professional learning network fits well in 4D and 4E, where it emphasizes the importance of participating in a professional community and developing as a professional. PLNs allow educators to interact with fellow educators, and share ideas. Your PLN was also allow you to grow as an educator. Tools like Twitter and Pinterest are good for finding inspiration and new ideas.
I plan to continue develop my professional learning network. One aspect I found especially helpful for me personally was participating in Twitter chats. I hope to find time to join at least one Twitter chat monthly. These Twitter chats would enable me to continue meeting experienced educators and to continue learning new ideas. I also would want to continue browsing through Pinterest posts. If I have any spare time, I could make good use of it by searching Pinterest for ideas to use in my future classroom. Overall, I am glad that Technologies of Instruction introduced me to these tools, and I plan to continue using them.
